چکیده

The present paper briefly summarizes our recent research on high-temperature mass transport phenomena through grain boundaries in oxide ceramics. We have proposed two techniques to control boundary ceramics: one is change the chemical composition boundary, and other apply an external electric field or current material. former effect attributed segregation of doped cations, effective improving sinterability plastic deformability importance bonding state has also been pointed out. latter yields a drastic enhancement diffusional boundaries. Athermal effect, which field/current itself provides acceleration diffusion, seemed exist, besides Joule heating effect.

Grain boundary segregation in oxide ceramics

D PR O Abstract The factors which control grain boundary segregation in oxide ceramics are reviewed. These include grain boundary energy, cation–cation interactions, impurity cation size, as well as electrostatic interactions with the grain boundary space charge. In addition, an approach for measuring grain boundary segregation in those materials, as a function of the five macroscopic parameter...

Dislocations and Grain Boundaries in Ceramics and Metals

This paper is offered as a tribute to the late Gareth Thomas and the celebration of his career using transmission electron microscopy. His early work on dislocations and twin boundaries in metals suggested indirect methods for determining the stacking-fault energies (SFEs) of Al [1] and Ni [2] and subsequently examined questions on how the measured values of SFEs of copper alloys change when th...

Anelastic Grain-Boundary Sliding in Ceramics. II. Polycrystals with Glassy Boundaries

Systematic experimentation on grain-boundary sliding of ceramics with a glassy film at grain boundaries has been carried out by low-frequency internal friction technique up to =2200K. A model silicon nitride polycrystal was selected for this basic investigation in which the grains were continuously encompassed by a nanometre-sized film of pure SiO, glass. The SiO, film was also doped with incre...
